A variety of proposed projects were submitted. The class
identified four criteria in which they used to critique and
make their selection: need, impact on the community,
feasibility to complete prior to time frame identified, and
visibility for the recipient organization and the purpose of
the project. Once the applications were reviewed, the class
made a selection to assist two organizations.
-
Cider House Theatre was awarded the grant
funding which was used toward the purchase of a sign
identifying the theater from the street for visitors and
residents. Additionally, the individual class members
served a total of 30 volunteer hours assisting the
theatre with projects, including painting, stage set-up,
cleaning, etc.
- Nebraska City Jaycees also received 20 hours
of service primarily assisting with activities related
to and during the Annual Independence Day Celebration
which the organization hosts for the community and area.
Individuals from the class also worked in the concession
stand during youth baseball games, a Jaycees program
serving nearly 500 children.
